Valentine's Day Depression Common Among Single Catholics
Pittsburgh, PA (PRWEB) February 5, 2005 -- Confirming common sentiment that being single on Valentine’s Day can be a lonely, bittersweet time, a recent CatholicMatch.com poll indicates that 45% of Catholic singles are feeling depressed around Valentine’s Day.
The informal poll was conducted by CathoicMatch.com, the leading online community for Catholic singles, and consists of responses from over one thousand members. It revealed that about 45% of respondents feel slightly depressed on Valentine’s Day, 21% remain neutral or apathetic, and 33% reported a positive response to the holiday.
According to CatholicMatch.com co-founder Brian Barcaro, “We were not surprised by the results of the poll, but they did provide additional motivation for us to reach out to this demographic. Regardless of age, being a single Catholic can often present unique challenges. The combined effect of pressure from secular society to 'get married' and the main focus on family life found in many Catholic parishes can make Valentine's Day a difficult time for singles.”
In response to these unique challenges, Catholic Match provides a supportive online community that helps singles see the joy and gift in living out their vocation, whether temporary or permanent. CatholicMatch.com uses the internet to let singles know they are not alone and offers much needed hope to those feeling left out on Valentine’s Day.
